Most people have considered writing in a diary at some point, so as to be able to record key moments in their lives and of course, having an actual physical representation of their journey through life, but why not take the idea of the journal to a new level and create an Art Journal? There are some useful points to consider before you start:

* It will provide a unique look at your life as you perceive it, and it will also provide a wonderful creative and visual record for you and your family to cherish.

* Creating an art journal is a big project to start, but it can be so rewarding, as well as being therapeutic, not only can it be good for you as an individual as it allows regular use of the creative processes, but it allows others to have a unique insight into you as a person.

* Starting out is easy, purchasing a good quality book for your journal is essential so it’s a good idea to consider if you are only going to use a pen or pencil for your entries, or whether you would really like to use colour. The paper must be of the right weight and quality if using paint, so check that it is suitable to your requirements and invest in the appropriate paper that is sufficient to your needs.

* Once you have purchased your journal, then you can begin to tap into your creative muse. First of all, consider exactly what you want to achieve with your journal. Do you want to use it as a diary and draw or paint those aspects relative to your life? Or, would you like your journal to have a set theme, such as hobby related?

* For example, if you enjoy wildlife and walking for recreational purposes than your journal could focus around that, and it will provide an accurate record of your walking pursuits including any of the sketches you have drawn whilst out and about.

Your journal will very quickly become an important part of both your life and your creative aspirations.
