Pencil drawing is a lovely medium that is easy to work in once the basic techniques have been learned. Children equally love to learn pencils drawing themselves and this is a great way to introduce children to art as a hobby. Adults however can make drawing to come to life even more for young potential artists by creating specific pencil drawings which are relative to those children in your life.

This is a wonderful way to forge creative bonds with your own children, and whilst it is not necessary to make your drawings into cartoons, having different characters depicted in different scenes can become more entertainment for those children who view them.  Think of your drawings as personalized creations which will be instantly recognizable by those you love.

If you wish to indulge in this unusual but creative pastime, then it is worth taking a note of the following steps:

1. Take time to think about the child you wish to draw for. It is easier if it is your own children as you know them so well and understand the stories that they would be inspired by.

2. When drawing characters, consider how they would interact with each other, and if you have a moral message you would like to impart. Choose character names that will connect with your children.

3. Choose the size of the paper you are going to use. A4 paper is useful if you would like to make your drawings larger and easier to see.

4. Take time to learn what issues your children may be facing, listen to them carefully when you are having casual conversations with them as they may impart some useful information which you can use in your art sessions.

5. Whilst subtle messages can be relayed within your drawings, they can simply be for fun too. The pencil drawings can be created together too as children like to mimic their parents. Whether undertaking cartoon drawing or portrait drawing, these projects between parents and their children can make art a welcome part of any evening activities.

6. Finally, work together on the pencil drawings and encourage the children to create additional artwork in the same vein.
