Drawing is a form of art that has been practiced by humans for ages. Right from the times of the cave men until the present age that we live in, the art of drawing has undergone a lot of developments. In the times that we live in, there are different forms of drawing present in the world. Of all these forms pencil drawing is the most basic form of drawing in practice.

 

There are several tips about pencil drawing that people should keep in mind and try to incorporate while drawing. Some of these tips have been discussed here:

 

Make the initial outline light

 

In pencil drawing you should keep it in mind that the initial outlines should be made as light as possible. This not only helps you to erase in case you want to make some corrections to what you have drawn, but will also prevent the paper on which you are drawing from developing deep creases.

 

Avoid resting on your hand on the drawing paper

 

While you are doing a pencil drawing you may have to rest on your hand on the very paper that you are drawing on. You should try to avoid doing so as it is found that the places where you rest on your hand will become untidy when you will erase any drawing from those areas later on. This happens as the moisture in your hands will destruct the quality of the paper.

 

Moreover, do not rest on your hand on those places where you have already made some drawing. Doing so may result in your drawings having smudges on the areas where you rest on your hand.

 

Bring into play cotton to smooth out the shades

 

Often in pencil drawing you will see that you may have to smoothen out the shades that you made with the pencil. You should not do this smoothening with your fingers but try to use some more appropriate thing like a piece of cotton.

 

Make use of sharp pencils for fine additions

 

You may need to make some really fine additions to your drawing and for such purposes you should use sharp pencils. On the other side, you must keep in mind while making a drawing is that after you have sharpened your pencil, you should wipe the end of the pencil that you have sharpened with a piece of water to remove any excess granite that may be there.

 

Use smooth and soft eraser

 

The rubber used also plays a major role in developing or damaging your drawing. You are bound to make some mistakes while drawing and may need to remove those mistakes using an eraser. If you use an eraser which is very hard, there is a possibility that it will remove the surface layer of paper and at the same time damage your paper. Hence, use smooth and soft rubber to avoid any damage to your paper.

 

Finally, after you have finished with your work, you should cover your drawing with a seal or put some fixative spray on the drawing. This prevents your drawing from developing any smudges in case anybody puts their hand over it.

 

Though the above said tips would not make for you a decent drawing but would definitely make sure that your pencil drawing is free from any smudges and at the same time look decent.
