Types of canvas frame
The types of canvas frames that are used could be divided into two groups: the splinted canvas and the stapled canvas. In the stapled canvas, the basic problem that a painter might face is to paint on the sides of the frame due to the staples present. He has to leave the entire sides in the form of a border, thus curbing down his scope of painting. In case of the splinted canvas, individuals can paint to the last portion of the edges of the frame, getting the entire space to brush down his thoughts.
There have been several reasons for this technique to have become so popular, starting from the renaissance period. The most important aspect of the painting is that, with the added help of the varnishes painters could add on a luster that brings about liveliness in the painting. Moreover, the oil paints hold strong against the canvas for longer period of time, and canvas painting might be preferred for that reason also.
